Born in Dunedin, 1934. Graduated with B.Arch and Traveling Scholarship from University of Auckland, 1959, which enabled him to study architecture and city planning at the University of Pennsylvania. Graduated M.Arch and MCP, 1964.
Engaged in these callings in Auckland, Hong Kong, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Johor Bahru (Malaysia) and Brisbane, where he is now retired.
Has been primarily responsible for preparing city and CBD plan for Auckland and CBD and neighborhood plans in Brisbane. Was a principal in a development company building town houses in Auckland, received a US patent for a building machine, and wrote a book called “To the Cities of the Second Car Age, published in 1995.
Default retirement activities have been painting and transport research.
